Signs it may be a problem
There is no single test, but the questions the support services ask are a good place to start. Are you spending more money or time than you meant to? Chasing losses? Borrowing to gamble, or hiding it from people close to you? Feeling anxious or low when you cannot gamble? If any of those ring true, a call or a chat costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Tools built into BetNeptune
BetNeptune is operated by ProgressPlay Limited, which is licensed by the Gambling Commission and must offer these controls. The operator's Play Responsibly page describes the following. Use them from the responsible gaming section of your account, or through the operator's support team.
- Deposit, wager and loss limits, set daily, weekly or monthly. The operator says a reduction takes effect immediately and an increase takes seven days.
- Time-out, a short break from your account.
- Session expiry, which logs you out after a set time.
- Reality check, an on-screen reminder of how long you have been playing, at an interval you choose.
- Self-exclusion, for a fixed or indefinite period. The operator's terms say it applies across its whole network of sites, cannot be undone during the period, and closes the account with any balance returned to you.
- Gambling history. The operator says you can request a full record of your gambling history, including periods beyond the last 12 months, at any time.
The operator's own page is at www.betneptune.com under "Play Responsibly" in the footer. If anything differs, the operator's page is the one that applies.
Blocking every UK site at once
Operator-level self-exclusion only covers that operator. GAMSTOP covers every online gambling business licensed in Great Britain in one go. It is free and takes a few minutes to set up, and it cannot be reversed early. GamCare also publishes a guide to self-exclusion and blocking software that covers bank gambling blocks and device-level blockers, which many people use alongside GAMSTOP.
Practical habits
- Decide what you can afford to lose before you deposit, and set that as a deposit limit on the site.
- Treat every stake as spent. Winnings are a bonus, not a plan.
- Never chase a loss. The next bet does not know about the last one.
- Do not gamble to solve money problems, when upset, or after drinking.
- Keep gambling separate from bills: use a card or account you have ring-fenced for it.
- Take breaks. If you notice you are playing to feel better rather than for fun, stop and talk to someone.
Under-18s
Gambling is illegal for under-18s in the UK, and BetNeptune's terms say that accounts found to belong to someone under 18 have winnings and bonuses voided. This site is for adults only. If you are worried about a young person's gambling, GamCare and GambleAware both offer advice for parents and carers.
About this page
betneptune.co.uk is an independent guide that earns a commission if readers join BetNeptune through its links. We think that makes it more important, not less, to put the help information where it cannot be missed. Every page on this site carries the 18+ marker and links to BeGambleAware.org, and this page is linked from every footer.
